The Ministry of Communications approved the Zhaoyin Harbor district ( Zhangzhou Port ) to be one of the first trial ports with direct sails to Taiwan .

The construction of the principle part of Berth No. 4 to No.5 began and the ribbon was cut at the opening ceremony.
July, 13 th ,2000
China Merchants Zhangzhou Development Co. , Ltd. and China Merchants Holdings (international) Company Limited signed the letter of intent to manage Berth No.3 by joint venture (the latter undertakes all the management affairs).

The joint venture --- Zhangzhou China merchants Port Co., Ltd. was registered to be founded. The reward system was reformed roundly and the development of Zhangzhou Port was reorientation.
January 8 th ,2001
The first domestic trade container line was developed and broke the history of no container line in Zhangzhou Port.

The mineral building material terminal (Berth No.14) of 10000 DWT began to construct and finished on December 29 th , 2001

The principle part of Berth No.4 and No.5 was finished and simply equipped to put into production.

Zhangzhou Port (Zhaoyin harbor district) where Zhangzhou China Merchants Port is located was formally open to the ships of foreign registry.

The principle part of Berth No.4 to No.5 was finished and appraised to be a fine engineering by the quality inspection station of Fujian Province after its inspection and check.

The yard of 61000 square meter behind Harbor Building began to construct.

The warehousing center began to construct and a ribbon was cut at the opening ceremony.

The yard of 61000 square meters behind Berth No.3 was finished and accepted.

The steel structure of the first silo in warehousing centre began to install.

The principle part of Berth No.1 and No.2 with quay line of 488 meter began to construct.

The warehousing center formally was put into use.

The northern four lanes of the gate of Berth No.1-6 were put into use.

Ministry of Commerce of the people's republic of China agreed that the total investment of Zhangzhou China Merchants Port Co., Ltd. was added from 0.8billion to 1.8 billion and the registered capital was added to 1 billion from 0.66 billion (file No.: Commerce Capital Approval [2004] 1608).
December, 25 th , 2004
Berth No.7, No.8 and No.9 began to construct and held opening ceremony on December 28th.
